چکیده

Background Previous animal studies showed that partial whey hydrolyates could prevent acute allergic symptoms in a mouse model for cow’s milk allergy. This effect was even more pronounced in combination with a diet containing a specific non-digestible oligosaccharide mixture of scGalacto(scGOS), lc-Fructo(lcFOS) and Acidic(pAOS) oligosaccharides (in a 9:1:2 ratio). We hypothesized that these hydrolysates contain peptides that can induce the observed tolerance. Therefore we investigated the potential of synthetic b-lactoglobulin peptides, with or without a diet containing ScGOS/lsFOS/pAOS, to induce tolerance in this mouse model.

A New Synbiotic Can Increase Weight Gain in Infants with Cow's Milk Allergy: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Introduction: Cow’s milk protein allergy is the most common food allergy in many countries, with clinical importance in different aspects. Synbiotic, a combination of probiotics and prebiotics, could be effective in the management of this allergy through modulating the immune system and improving the nutritional status. Methods: In this randomized, controlled trial, 32 infants with cow’s milk a...

Role of specific IgE to β-lactoglobulin in the gastrointestinal phenotype of cow’s milk allergy

RATIONALE The prevalence of many phenotypes of food allergy is increasing. Specific gastrointestinal (GI) phenotype of food allergy (GI allergy) is also increasing but it is difficult to know the prevalence because of many entities. METHODS AND RESULTS: A 1 year retrospective study of pediatric patients complaining exclusively gastrointestinal symptoms after cow's milk consumption and at least ...

Hypoallergenic Infant Formulas

The American Academy of Pediatrics is committed to breastfeeding as the ideal source of nutrition for infants. For those infants who are formula-fed, either as a supplement to breastfeeding or exclusively during their infancy, it is common practice for pediatricians to change the formula when symptoms of intolerance occur. Decisions about when the formula should be changed and which formula sho...

Markers of gut mucosal inflammation and cow’s milk specific immunoglobulins in non-IgE cow’s milk allergy

BACKGROUND Allergy to cow's milk protein (CMP) may cause gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms in the absence of CMP specific IgE. The immunological mechanisms involved in such disease are not fully understood. Therefore we examined markers of gut mucosal inflammation and the immunoglobulin profiles in children with Gl symptoms suspected of cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA). PATIENTS AND METHODS We ...

A Specific Mixture of Fructo-Oligosaccharides and Bifidobacterium breve M-16V Facilitates Partial Non-Responsiveness to Whey Protein in Mice Orally Exposed to β-Lactoglobulin-Derived Peptides

Oral tolerance is a promising approach for allergy prevention in early life, but it strongly depends on allergen exposure and proper immune environment. Small tolerance-inducing peptides and dietary immunomodulatory components may comprise an attractive method for allergy prevention in at-risk infants. This study aimed to investigate whether early oral exposure to β-lactoglobulin-derived peptid...
